Operation of the electrolysis system :
This anti-fouling system, as opposed to other existing methods, contains no chemicals (lead, mercury) and therefore is harmless to the marine environment.
The copper ions create an hostile environment, therefore a barrier against organic development, while keeping clean the immerged part of the boat.
Afterwards the copper ions are immediately oxidized and encapsulated by the resultant aluminum floc and sink to the seabed.Our anti-fouling system has been recently improved by adding an adjustable “interval system” to deliver electric current. This alternate effect of anti-fouling allows a break in which the aluminium oxides have time to enclose the copper oxides and discard them as harmless slurry to the bottom. This system can then be adjusted to the area, depending on the strength necessary according to water conditions.
The installation is relatively simple and does not require extensive work.
THe system is made of two parts :
- a rack which must be lowered under the hull
- a rectifyer on which it connects, which delivers the energy.
The rectifyer works on 12v~, 24v~ ou 220 v=.
It can be plugged directly on the electrical current provided by most marinas, or plugged on the boat's electrical system (including on systems with solar energy).The system can be set up quite easily, weighing only 10 kilos. It is attached to the railing of the boat with a simple rope, and is connected to the rectifyer by an electrical cable. It is possible to install a plug near the optimal point of immersion. The system can also rest on the bottom, as it continues to insure protection even under 20 cm of mud !
No interference
The SRAF system does not create any interferences. Neither with the usual cathodic protection, nor with the electronic equipment of the boats. Beacause the quantity of electric current is so small.
Upgraded with its optional anode (cathodic protection for steel hulls), it has even proven to prolong the life of the regular anodes.
No risk for the user or for the environment
The SRAF is totally harmless to users and marine life, and emmits no heat or sound.
